TULSA, Okla. - It is the most coveted of all UniFirst Corporation recognitions. And out of the thousands of UniFirst route sales representatives (RSRs) in the U.S and Canada, Broken Arrow resident Keith Penrod is one of only ten who have earned this distinction for 2014. Named after UniFirst's founder, the Aldo Croatti Award is presented to those RSRs who exemplify unparalleled customer service while retaining 100% of their customers for an entire fiscal year.
Penrod, who works for UniFirst at its Tulsa location, delivers work uniforms and facility service products to 61 businesses on a weekly basis throughout the greater Tulsa area. He has been with UniFirst for five years.
Headquartered in Wilmington, Mass., UniFirst Corporation (NYSE: UNF) is a leading provider of customized work uniform programs, corporate attire, and facility service products to businesses throughout the U.S. and Canada. Together with its subsidiaries, UniFirst also provides first aid and safety products, and manages protective garment programs for the cleanroom and nuclear industries.
"Keith has a large family and he treats his customers as though they are a part of it," says UniFirst general manager Jack Walters. "I have never heard him say anything negative. Like our local legend Will Rogers, Keith has never met a person he didn't like and would do anything to take care of his customers." He added, "All the folks in Tulsa are very proud of him and believe he is a great example of what this award represents."
Penrod attributed winning the award to focusing on customer needs. "The only way you can successfully do this job is if you totally care about people." He added, "I accept the Aldo Croatti Award with honor and appreciation for all who helped me achieve this, from my general manager to all the UniFirst Tulsa employees who helped me take great care of our customers. I am very grateful to work for a company that recognizes and rewards the importance of great service."
Penrod resides in Broken Arrow with his wife Jenina and his 11 children, ages 11 through 34. He spends a lot of time with his family and works with the youth at his church, mostly grades 1 through 4. Penrod also enjoys sports and plays on UniFirst's local softball team along with his boys, Avery (age 22) and Jeb (age 21). "I believe God has blessed me and rewarded me."
As part of his award, Penrod will receive an all-expenses-paid trip for two to the Four Seasons Resort in Maui, Hawaii, in December, where he will be personally recognized by UniFirst president and CEO Ron Croatti and other company executives.
