WILMINGTON, Mass. () - For the ninth consecutive year, UniFirst Corporation (NYSE: UNF), a leading supplier and servicer of uniforms, workwear, and protective clothing throughout the U.S. and Canada, has been named one of America's top 50 apparel companies by Apparel magazine, a leading international resource for the global apparel industry. Securing the No. 9 spot, the 2015 ranking represents UniFirst's highest position on the list to date.
To be eligible, companies had to record at least $100 million in annual sales; rankings were based on overall performance and financial management.
UniFirst appears on the list alongside some of America's most popular apparel companies including Nike (No. 6), Ralph Lauren (No. 7), Gap (No. 14), Under Armour (No. 18), Columbia Sportswear (No. 20), and Levi Strauss (No.39). Among uniform supply companies, UniFirst ranked the highest.
UniFirst president and CEO Ronald Croatti says that UniFirst's success is driven by a deep understanding of, and commitment to, the customer. "We're able to provide the look and image that businesses, as well as individuals, want to present with our personalized, in-depth uniform rental service programs. As part of that service, they receive their garments directly from us each week, delivered by the same person, whose number one priority is to provide continued personalized service to them – our customer. We never lose sight of that."
And the awareness of the needs of the uniform wearer are always at the forefront. "We maintain ongoing communications with our wearers while handling their weekly work uniform needs," said Adam Soreff, UniFirst's director of marketing. "The UniFirst service model provides continued feedback from our more than 1.5 million uniform wearers, allowing us to build the best features and services into our products and delivery systems. We are, above all, a service company. And our goal is continuous improvement in all we do in order to provide total customer satisfaction."
