Properly using UniFirst's microfiber infection control system will save time, save money, and result in cleaner patient rooms. By following these guidelines, you'll be sure to maximize the cleaning potential of these products while eliminating cross contamination caused by mopping.

You want to start by using the high duster to clean hard to reach surfaces. To assemble the high duster, slide a clean microfiber sleeve over the flexible dusting tool and secure the Velcro closure. To extend your reach using the adjustable mop handle, first remove the handgrip by pressing firmly on the two side buttons to release the locking tabs and pull the handle straight off. Next, slide the tool onto the mop handle while pressing the side buttons. Release the buttons and make sure the tabs are securely locked onto the mop handle. Finally, you'll want to bend the high duster into an L shape to maximize contact with the surface. Now, simply wipe the high duster along the surfaces that you wish to clean. The high duster with microfiber technology makes cleaning hard-to-reach surfaces easy.

Next, you'll clean the remaining non-glass surfaces of the room using our microfiber cloths and mitts. Each microfiber cloth can be folded to provide eight separate cleaning surfaces. Start by folding the cloth in half and then fold the cloth in half again. Wipe any flat smooth surface with the cloth and when it becomes soiled, turn the cloth over and continue cleaning. To access two more clean surfaces, simply unfold and refold the two used surfaces together. Finally, repeat this process with the other side of the cloth by refolding the first fold, folding the dirty side of the towel against itself.

The microfiber dusting mitt can also be used and is handy for odd shaped surfaces. The microfiber cloths can be used with chemicals for enhanced cleaning and you can color code the cloths to eliminate cross contamination from different surfaces.

The glass microfiber cloth can be used on windows, mirrors, and stainless steel. Simply wet the towel and wring out any excess water for sparkling clean, streak-free cleaning of these surfaces.

Once all the surface cleaning is done, you're ready to dry mop the floor and baseboards. Begin by adjusting the mop handle. First, secure the mop head by stepping on the base. Twist the mop handle counter clockwise to release. Adjust the handle to chin height and twist the handle clockwise to lock in place. Next, secure a dust mop to the handle by placing a microfiber dust mop on the floor and pressing the mop frame against the center of the pad. The oversized pad allows the dust mop to be used to clean baseboards and corners. Mop the room from the far edge of the room, working back towards the door, using a figure eight pattern and maintaining a consistent leading edge. The mop handle is designed to lay flat to enable mopping under further. To remove to dust mop, simply stand on the edges of the mop head and pull straight up on the mop handle. To avoid excessive handling of the dirty mop head, use the Velcro on the mop frame to pick up the dirty mop pad.

The final step in cleaning the room is to wet mop the floor. Begin by pressing the mop frame down on a clean pre-moistened microfiber mop head in the mop bucket so that the Velcro system fastens. You will use one clean mop head for each room to eliminate cross contamination from room to room. Drag the mop along the baseboard to the farthest corner of the room and work your way back toward the door. As you mop, you will pick up the moisture left behind to remoisten the mop as you go. To avoid cross contamination, never remoisten a mop head by ducking it back into the mop bucket. Mop in a figure eight pattern, maintaining a consistent leading edge, and work your way back to the door, mopping the rest rooms last. To remove the pad, again, stand on the edge of the pad and pull the mop handle straight up. By using the Velcro on the mop frame to spear the mop head in the center, you can remove the pad without handling the dirty side of the mop.

UniFirst's microfiber infection control system allows you to make a clean start in each and every room with fresh cloths, fresh mops, and clean water. Our professionally laundered products are always on hand to help you remove as much bacteria as possible in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
