Privacy

UniFirst is strongly committed to protecting privacy and providing a safe online experience for all of our web shoppers. This Privacy Policy applies to information collected online through UniFirst.com, UniFirst.ca, company e-store/e-commerce sites, and all National Accounts B2B e-stores, which governs online data collection and usage by UniFirst. Please read the complete UniFirst Online Privacy Policy below and contact us at edisupport@UniFirst.com if you have any questions.

Our Commitment to Privacy

The UniFirst Privacy Policy was developed as an extension of our commitment to combine the highest-quality products and services with the highest level of integrity in dealing with our business partners. The Policy is designed to assist you in understanding how we collect, use, and safeguard the personal information you provide to us and to assist you in making informed decisions when using our site and our products and services. This statement will be continuously assessed against new technologies, business practices, and our customers’ needs.

Information We Collect

When you visit UniFirst.com, UniFirst.ca, a company e-store/e-commerce site, and/or a National Account B2B e-store, you may provide us with two types of information: personal information you knowingly choose to disclose that is collected on an individual basis; and website use information that is collected on an aggregate basis as you browse the site.

Our web servers collect only the domain or “IP address” of visitors. The data is not shared with anyone other than UniFirst’s affiliates and contractors who assist UniFirst efforts and who are bound to confidentiality.

Domain name information that we collect is generally not used to personally identify you and, instead, is aggregated to measure such things as the number of visits, average time spent on the site/web pages, pages viewed, etc. We use this information to measure the use of our site and to improve content.

Personal Information

If you register on a UniFirst e-store/e-commerce site to make purchases, certain personal information is required to fulfill your order. When you supply us with personal information to order a product, the information you provide will be added to our customer master file. This allows us to process and fulfill your order. For example, you may need to provide the following information:

  • Name
  • Mailing address (for product deliveries)
  • Email address (for order confirmation)
  • Credit card number (for payment if you do not have A/R terms)
  • Home and business phone number (for contact regarding order)
  • Other personal information (e.g., mother’s maiden name), so a password can be assigned to and managed for you.

All of your personal information is user-ID and password-protected.

Email Information

If you choose to correspond with us through email, we may retain the content of your email message(s) together with your email address and our responses. We provide the same protections for these electronic communications that we employ in the maintenance of information received by mail and telephone.

Website Use Information

Similar to other commercial websites, ours utilize a standard technology called “cookies” (see explanation below, “What Are Cookies?”) and web server logs to collect information about how our sites are used. Information gathered through cookies and web server logs may include the date and time of visits, the pages viewed, time spent on our websites, and the websites visited just before and just after visiting ours. This information is collected on an aggregate basis. None of this information is associated with you as an individual.

How We Use the Information You Provide

We use personal information for purposes of administering your account with UniFirst, providing customer service, and making available other products and services. Occasionally, we may also use the information we collect to notify you about important changes to our website, new services, and/or special offers we think you may find valuable. The lists used to send you product and service offers are developed and managed under our traditional corporate standards designed to safeguard the security and privacy of our customers’ personal information. However, if you wish not to be notified of any new offers or new services, please call us at 888.786.4347 or email CS@UniFirst.com.

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are a feature of web browser software that allows servers to recognize the computer used to access a website. Cookies are small pieces of data that are stored by a user’s web browser on the user’s hard drive. Cookies can remember what information a user accesses on a web page to simplify subsequent interactions with that website by the same user, or to use the information to streamline the user’s transactions on related web pages. This makes it easier for a user to move from a web page to another, and to complete commercial transactions over the Internet. Cookies are designed to make your online experience easier and more personalized. We do not use cookies to store any of your personal or financial information on your computer. UniFirst recognizes that you have a choice to refuse cookies. But be advised that if you wish to purchase, you must accept the cookie so that we can securely process your order.

How We Use Information Collected from Cookies

We use website browser software tools such as cookies and web server logs to gather information about our website users’ browsing activities, in order to constantly improve our website and better serve our customers. This information assists us in designing and arranging our web pages in the most user-friendly manner and to continually improve our website to better meet the needs of our customers and prospective customers.

Secure Information Transmissions

When you send confidential personal credit card information to us on a UniFirst e-store/e-commerce site and/or a National Account B2B e-store, secure server software, which we have licensed, encrypts all information you input before it is sent to us. We use a technology called Secure Socket Layer (SSL) that encrypts any data transmitted between you and UniFirst as long as the web browser you’re using also supports SSL. All the most popular browsers support SSL in recent versions. The information is scrambled en route and decoded once it reaches our website. Other email that you may send us may not be secure unless we advise you that security measures will be in place prior to your transmitting the information. For that reason, we ask that you do not send confidential information such as credit card numbers or account numbers to us through an unsecured email.

How We Protect Your Information

We treat personal information in a confidential manner. UniFirst employees are required to protect the confidentiality of such information. Employees may access said information only when there is an appropriate reason to do so, such as to administer or offer our products or services. We also maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect Information; these safeguards comply with all applicable laws. Employees are required to comply with our established policies.

Evaluation of Information Protection Practices

Periodically, our operations and business practices are reviewed by our corporate auditing firm for compliance with corporate policies and procedures governing the security, confidentiality, and quality of our information.

Employee Access

Our corporate values, ethical standards, policies, and practices are committed to the protection of customer information. In general, our business practices limit employee access to confidential information, and limit the use and disclosure of such information to authorized persons, processes, and transactions.

Managing Your Personal Information

For B2B e-store/e-commerce users, you may access the personal information that we have collected online when you registered by: logging in with your user ID and password, and change your personal information in your profile. Email UniFirst Customer Service and a customer service representative (CSR) will make the changes for you. Or, call UniFirst Customer Service and a CSR will make the desired changes while you are on the phone.

Disclosure of Information to Outside Parties

We do not provide aggregate information about our rental/lease customers or rental/lease sales to third parties, nor do we rent or sell such information to third parties unless it is for the sole purpose of fulfilling a customer order. This allows us to make special offers and continue to market our services to those who have shown interest in our company.
